How to add a texture
This tutorial is pretty simple. Textures are used to create a cool effect on photos. First off, open up a photo you'd like to add a texture to. I will be using this picture of Tim Armstrong. If you'd like, you can use this photo for this tutorial.
Secondly, I will be using this texture (you may also use this same texture if you'd like):

(Click to make it larger)
All you have to do is copy and paste that texture ontop of the Tim Armstrong one. To do so, select your texture and press Ctrl-A then Ctrl-C to copy the image. Afterwards, go to your Tim Armstrong or any other photo you're using, and press Ctrl-V to paste it. It will automatically be turned into layer 1. Your image should look like this now:

After you've done that, right-click on layer 1 and select Blending Options, like so:

It will then take you to this screen with a drop down menu. In the drop down menu, there are a selection of different effects you could use for your image. It all depends on your image, because some of these effects will look different. For this image of Tim Armstrong, I decided to put it to Hard Light. Again, every photo is different, so explore each one and see which one you think looks best!

After selecting the effect you like best, just click OK. Your image should look like this:

You could stop here if you'd like, but since I think the texture is a little too over powering, I'm going to be changing the texture's opacity, or making it look a little more transparent. Above your layer 1, they have an opacity option. Just click on the drop down arrow, and drag it to where you'd think it looks best at. I put mine at 75%.

And presto! All done! Here's the finished product:
