Blending images together

This is a fairly complicated tutorial, and is definitely for advanced users, but I tried to simplify it enough for everyone to understand how it's done. Enjoy! First things first, you will need two images. For this tutorial, I'll be using these two images of Mary-Kate Olsen:

You may use these images to test out this tutorial.

First things first, you have to open up two of the images you want to blend together.

Now create a new canvas (ctrl+N for you lazies), with a reasonable width that will fit both of the images together BUT, make it slightly smaller. So if both of your images add up to, lets say 400px in width, then make it about 350px. For this, I made it to 300px in width, but keeping the same height of both images (which is 357px). I would suggest using two pictures that are about the same height, if you're not using the images I've provided. After that, copy both images and paste it onto the new canvas (ctrl+C to copy, ctrl+V to paste). They should overlap like this:

Next, select your eraser tool.

Now, for the picture that's on TOP of the second picture, erase the edge, but be careful not to erase too much! You just want the picture to look like its blended, or, as if its one whole photo, like so.

After you've erased the edge, your final image should look like this!

And ta-da! All done! I hope this helps you, because its hard for some people to understand on how to do it.
